According to the classic recipe borscht is cooked from 3 liters of water in a 5-liter saucepan, so that there is free space for laying meat and vegetables. Accordingly, for a 3-liter saucepan, only 1.8 liters of water should be taken.

It is important not to miss the moment of boiling water, after which you need to immediately turn down the heat so that the valuable broth does not boil away. The broth should not boil too much during the entire cooking time. It is not recommended to add water during cooking, it impairs the taste of the dish.
